US Offers $6M Bounty for Garantex Executives Amid Crackdown on Crypto Crime
The US Department of State has announced rewards totaling up to $6 million for information leading to the arrest or conviction of leaders behind the defunct Garantex cryptocurrency exchange. Russian national Aleksandr Mira Serda, co-owner and CCO, carries a $5 million bounty, while other key figures are targeted for $1 million.
Garantex, accused of facilitating billions in illicit transactions for cybercriminals and money launderers, now faces redesignation by OFAC alongside its successor entity Grinex. The crackdown follows coordinated actions by Tether, German, and Finnish authorities—including domain seizures and asset freezes exceeding $26 million.
